Volunteer Organizations Abroad
We are an organization built upon the core philosophy of providing affordable, unique, fun and fulfilling volunteer placements to international travelers and volunteers.
We understand that India, like any developing economy is currently facing some very tough social issues like Poverty, Illiteracy, women inequality etc but at the same time India has held onto its Cultural past and is today one of the most diverse and unique cultures in the world. Our Volunteers are working to help the communities in need and at the same time getting an authentic Indian cultural experience. Our volunteer programs in India are run in partnership with a selected few organizations in India, which are Not for Profits. Our international volunteers work hand in hand with these organizations and lend their skills and experience to be a part of the cause.
We understand that more of the 95% of volunteers from abroad who come to India are first time travelers to India who apart from working for a social cause are also interested to immerse themselves into culture of India. Therefore we have designed our programs to be really comprehensive that is Airport to Airport. We manage and arrange everything from arrival till departure along with other organizations we are collaborate with. This is especially necessary as the country can sometimes be overwhelming for the volunteers from abroad. To give our volunteers a true taste of India we arrange for Cultural lessons and events such as yoga, dance, Cooking, Language etc. which when combined with stay at with a Indian family (home Stays) offer the most authentic Indian experience possible.
Our programs are not just placements but rather experiences. We don’t want to sell the poverty, illiteracy and the social problems to attract volunteers but rather we want to attract them through centuries old Traditions, heart throbbing landscapes and the spiritual heritage of India. All of our program locations are carefully chosen to give our participants an experience of a lifetime. We have intentionally kept our projects in India away from the metropolitan cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Calcutta as we feel they are not the true India. They are too modern to be the real, true India. Our program locations are the either tourist Hot spots of Cultural and Spiritual Importance or non-tourist locations. Dharamsala, Rishikesh and Leh are among some of the most visited cities in India owing to their unique aura, landscape, culture, spiritual significance and environment. Patiala and Kannur on the other had are nowhere on the tourist Maps, our volunteers are probably the only foreigners there.
Unlike other organizations where the business idea is convinced first and then the logo our case was the opposite. Our Co-Founder, Leon Thind while flying from Brisbane to New Delhi got hold of a book on Palmistry. He had no particular interest in palmistry but just picked up the book for fun and to learn something new.
A strange thing that he noticed upon completion of the book was that all pictures of hands had one thing in common, a common shape (v), no matter what type the hand was but all had one thing in common the letter V which was formed in every hand by the two of the most prominent lines in one hands the life line and the Head line. Accordingly to the book he was reading these two lines were the ones, which decide the kind of life the person would live and the attitude they would have towards life.
That’s when he had the idea that the “V” must symbol something, which would change the life and your attitude towards it. Bang! It was Volunteering. The letter must stand for Volunteering, every human must volunteer and offer selfless service to the local community, which would help him change his perspective about life. Volunteer in India was born : 35000ft above sea level.
We are a group of individuals from different walks of life brought together by a common ingredient: “India”. All of us are just obsessed by the sheer physical, cultural and spiritual beauty of this Country, from the Mighty peaks of the Himalayas to the beaches of Kerala; From the Kumbh Mela to the Pushkar camel Fair, we are enchanted by every aspect of India. To us India is not a piece of land or some political entity or a part of some historical facts. It is not a mad race for money, power, position and prestige. India is a longing, a thirst to attain truth – the truth that resides in every heartbeat of ours, the truth that is lying asleep under the layer of our consciousness, the truth that is
ours but yet forgotten. Its remembrance, its reclamation, is India.
